Overview

Charles E. Slonecker has been a member of the Department since 1968 and retired in December 2003. His research interests were in Cellular Immunology but his principal academic focus was in University Administration and Medical Education. He spent 80% of his academic time in the Office of University Relations as its Director. He was also Director of Ceremonies at UBC and was responsible for the academic ceremonies related to Congregation, University functions that recognize major Awards Presentations for students, faculty and staff, and Community Relations activities.

Medical Education activities included teaching Anatomy to the medical and dental students and teaching faculty anatomical teaching techniques. The later courses are organized as International Master Classes in Anatomy and sponsored by the American Association of Anatomists, the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the Dutch Association of Anatomists.

Dr. Slonecker will continue to be a guest lecturer in Anatomy & Cell Biology after taking a well earned holiday.

Structure and function of lymphoid tissue; muscular dystrophy.
